Rules for the MPG Race

Earth Day 2011: Participants will compete for the best mile per gallon rating while covering a pre-determined 25-mile route within the allotted 1-hour time limit. The driver with the best MPG for the 25 miles, achieved in 1 hour or less, will win the Grand Prize, a $100.00 Toyota of Des Moines Parts/Service Gift Certificate.

Second place will take home a $75.00 Toyota of Des Moines Parts/Service Gift Certificate and Third place will receive a $ 50.00 Toyota of Des Moines Parts/Service Gift Certificate. All participants will receive a $10 gas card!

Celebrity hybrid owners will also participate to show their stuff and talk about their fuel-savings strategies along the 25-mile course. All competitors must have hybrids that have capability to measure actual mileage on their computer readout.

We will also have a category this year for "Best Car Decoration" and

"Best Driver/Passenger Costume".
